Lawmakers, CEOs headline AWB’s 2019 Spring Meeting

Annual meeting in Spokane will examine 2019 legislative session, future of economy and transportation

OLYMPIA —The Association of Washington Business will bring together leading Washington employers, policymakers and state legislators May 8-9 in Spokane for its annual Spring Meeting.

The event includes a panel discussion with state legislative leaders examining the recently-concluded legislative session. Paul Read, publisher of the Journal of Business, will moderate the discussion with Senate Majority Leader Andy Billing, D-Spokane, Sen. John Braun, R-Centralia, Rep. Jacquelin Maycumber, R-Republic, and Rep. Larry Springer, D-Kirkland.

Economist Bill Conerly will kick off the event with a luncheon keynote address that will provide an overview of what employers can expect for the next year or so, the likelihood of a future recession and opportunities in the nation’s tight labor market. Conerly has more than 30 years of experience helping companies adapt to and thrive in changing economic conditions.

Other panels will feature CEOs from Spokane-area employers Numerica Credit Union, Pearson Packaging Systems and Wagstaff, Inc.; updates from state agency directors; and a discussion about the future of transportation featuring leaders from PACCAR, Uber and the state Department of Transportation.

Members of the news media are invited to attend the panel discussions and Tuesday’s luncheon keynote address. Please R.S.V.P. to AWB Communications Specialist Andrew Lenderman at 360.943.1600 or
