AWB to host Federal Affairs Summit Aug. 14
Agenda includes members of Washington’s congressional delegation, former U.S. Sen. Slade Gorton, NAFTA experts and more
OLYMPIA — More than half of Washington state’s congressional delegation will participate in AWB’s 2018 Federal Affairs Summit next Tuesday in Tacoma. Congress members, home from Washington, D.C. for the annual August recess, will join former U.S. Sen. Slade Gorton and trade officials from Canada and Mexico at the second-annual event.
“Washington’s employers are impacted by federal decisions more than ever, and we’re pleased to create a meaningful connection between our members and our congressional delegation during the August recess,” AWB President Kris Johnson said. “This is a great chance for employers to connect with their members of Congress, ask questions, learn and interact with Washington’s federal policymakers.”
Confirmed speakers include U.S. Reps. Suzan DelBene, Denny Heck, Derek Kilmer, Rick Larsen, Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Adam Smith. U.S Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell will deliver remarks via video.
In addition, Canadian and Mexican trade officials will discuss the North American Free Trade Agreement and former Sen. Gorton will speak about the state of the Supreme Court.
