MEDIA ADVISORY: AWB Institute’s Manufacturing Summit Takes Place Oct. 5 in Seattle
Presented by RSM and media partner Puget Sound Business Journal, this year’s event will feature U.S. Export-Import Bank Vice Chair Scott Schloegel and recognize four employers with Manufacturing Excellence awards
OLYMPIA — Sponsored by RSM, the Association of Washington Business Institute (AWBI) in partnership with the Puget Sound Business Journal, will host its annual Manufacturing Summit Oct. 5 at Emerald City Trapeze Arts in Seattle.
This year’s Manufacturing Summit includes an update from RSM on the state of manufacturing here and abroad, demonstration tables featuring local community and technical college students, a panel discussion of state apprenticeship programs, and Scott Schloegel, vice chair of the U.S. Export-Import Bank, to discuss how the bank supports manufacturers in Washington state and across the nation.
AWBI will also announce the winners of the 2017 Manufacturing Excellence Awards, sponsored by UPS, which include:
- Green Manufacturing Award — Given to a business that has maximized energy efficiency levels, gone above and beyond regulatory requirements, minimized waste from the production process and reduced its carbon footprint.
- Operational Excellence Award — Recognizing a company that has a distinctive manufacturing process, including continuous improvement, innovations, lean and six sigma and/or application of high technology.
- Innovation Award — Recognizing a company that has maintained a competitive advantage by utilizing innovation while remaining responsive to market demands.
- Manufacturer of the Year Award — This premier award recognizes a company that has a commitment to business excellence, has found creative solutions to challenges that raise or enhance the industry standard, as well as involvement in state and/or local public policy issues that affect manufacturers.
