AWB launches new round of multi-media ads to raise employer image

A new round of AWB’s ongoing employer image campaign launched this week on television, radio, digital and social media platforms throughout the state throughout the next several months.

The ads tell the positive stories of three homegrown Washington employers — MOD Pizza, Lampson International and Alaffia — including the ways in which they’re improving lives and building community, while also reminding audiences of the need to protect the state’s competitiveness.

MOD Pizza, one of the fastest growing restaurant chains in the country, goes out of its way to hire people who might otherwise face challenges entering the job market, including people with disabilities and criminal records.

“MOD exists to serve people. We do this by spreading MODness which is defined as the ripple effect of simply doing the right thing," says Ally Svenson, co-founder of MOD Pizza, explaining how her business fulfills a greater mission to improve lives and offer people a second chance.

Lampson International is a third-generation, family-owned company that has literally helped build the Tri-Cities community, donating money and equipment to construct key structures like the high school football stadium.

Kate Lampson highlights the regulatory environment that can hold back investment and create uncertainty. "There is so much red tape, it takes a long time to get anything permitted. When you’re in our industry, you need to be able to react quickly to your customers to stay competitive and create jobs,” she says.

And AWB returns to the remarkable story of Alaffia, the Tumwater-based company founded in 2003 that’s lifting people out of poverty in Togo, West Africa. This year’s campaign includes refreshed versions of previous Alaffia spots.

The growing company employs 145 people in Olympia, and a network of 17,000 who work directly or indirectly for Alaffia in West Africa. Olowo-n'djo Tchala and Prairie Rose Hyde, the husband and wife co-founders, engage in fair trade as a way to lift women and families out of poverty.

“Private enterprise alleviates poverty,” Tchala says. “In the country where I come from, Togo, the people simply need to have a job. And if they have a job, they can help themselves.”

Grow Here is one of the most important projects AWB works on each year and it takes a lot of member and staff support. The campaigns are developed and produced by Daniels-Brown Communications and BigHouse Production.
