As lawmakers get ready for the 2019 legislative session, AWB is working to create new connections between employers and policymakers at the annual Legislative Day and Hill Climb.

This year’s event includes a new lineup and new locations. It’s a great chance for AWB members to meet face to face with state lawmakers that make many of the decisions that impact Washington’s business climate.

The event is scheduled from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29 in Olympia. The biggest changes are the new locations – the event has moved from the Hotel RL to the Capitol, and AWB’s newly-remodeled offices.

“Our members were clear that they wanted more time with lawmakers, and we listened,” Events Manager Stephanie Hemphill said. “So, we’re changing it up with a new format that will create more opportunities for our members to connect directly with state lawmakers, and each other.”

The event begins with registration at 11 a.m., followed by lunch with legislators. AWB’s Bob Battles, Mike Ennis and Clay Hill will lead three separate working lunch discussions on employment law, transportation and the state budget and taxes.

The annual Hill Climb follows from 1-3 p.m., when AWB members meet directly with legislators in their offices.

Next, shuttles with transport participants from the Capitol campus to a board meeting at AWB’s offices, which have undergone significant renovations. The board meeting is followed by an update and discussion with leaders from the state House and Senate.

Finally, the day ends with a reception in the Capitol Rotunda, in the heart of the action. Members can end the day with great refreshments, networking and conversation about how to keep Washington competitive.

Register today for this special event. For questions, please contact AWB’s Kelli Schuler at 360.943.1600 or kellis@awb.org. Check out the video below for more details.
