North Whidbey farmer Ron Muzzall emerges as top pick to replace Bailey

Republican precinct officers from the 10th Legislative District have chosen North Whidbey farmer Ron Muzzall as their top choice for a state Senate appointment, The Whidbey News-Times reports.

Muzzall is the farm manager for the 3 Sisters Cattle Company and a founding member of the Island County Farm Bureau.

County commissioners from Skagit, Snohomish and Island County have the final say, however. They are scheduled to meet Oct. 18 to make an appointment to replace former State Sen. Barbara Bailey, R-Oak Harbor, who stepped down effective Sept. 30.

Two other candidates are also on the list, the newspaper reported: Christine Cribb, executive director of the Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce, and Sara Hyatt, president of Hyatt Development Inc.
