AWB tours Bertha and Highway 99 tunnel project

AWB members and staff toured Seattle's downtown tunneling project last week and came away with a few impressions.

First, the site is abuzz with activity even though the world's largest tunnel boring machine has been stalled for almost a year.

Second, this project is really big. From the 80-foot-deep worksite, where construction of the double-decker roadway is underway, to the 326-foot-long drilling rig itself, everything about the project is massive and complex.

Olympia Business Watch has a full rundown of the tour, with photos, a video and links to a 360-degree virtual tour of the tunnel and worksite.
