Inslee appoints retired Navy Capt. Doug Roulstone to fill vacant House seat

Gov. Jay Inslee on Friday appointed retired Navy Capt. Doug Roulstone to temporarily fill an open seat in the state House. Roulstone, a Republican, will fill the seat that former Rep. Mike Hope vacated in July.

The winner of the general election will be certified Nov. 25 and will then take over the position. Republican Mark Harmsworth and Democrat Mike Wilson are running to replace Hope. Roulstone, who ran for Congress in 2006, is not a candidate.

The Everett Herald and Seattle Times have more.
