Manufacturing Excellence Recognized by AWB Institute
Diverse group of manufacturers awarded for leading the way on overall excellence, innovation, environmental stewardship and operational ingenuity
SEATTLE — Four innovative Washington manufacturers were honored with Manufacturing Excellence awards at the Association of Washington Business Institute’s (AWBI) annual Manufacturing Summit today.
This year’s awards program recognized a diverse sector of manufacturers – from a craft distiller to a cabinet maker – for outstanding contributions to innovation, environmental excellence and operational improvements that lead to healthy, rewarding and successful workplaces.
The four Manufacturing Excellence award winners are:
- Manufacturer of the Year: Heritage Distilling Co., Gig Harbor - Opened in 2012, this family-owned and operated company is the largest independently owned craft distillery in Washington and the most awarded craft distillery in North America for four years running.
- Innovation: HPF Manufacturing, Snohomish, has been designing, developing and manufacturing heavy equipment attachments for more than 30 years.
- Operational Excellence: Canyon Creek Cabinet Company in Monroe has been making affordable custom-framed and frameless style kitchen, bath and closet cabinetry in Washington since 1981.
- Green Manufacturing: Waste Connections of Washington, founded in Vancouver 20 years ago, has become one of the largest recycling and solid waste companies in the state.
As the official media partner for the event, Puget Sound Business Journal Publisher Emory Thomas helped present the awards. A special manufacturing report will be published by the paper later this month.
“Today’s Manufacturing Summit is the capstone to a week spent highlighting the importance of manufacturing to our state’s economic health,” said AWB President Kris Johnson, who took part in the week-long AWB manufacturing bus tour that began Sept. 29 on the Olympic Peninsula and ends tomorrow in Tumwater. “The Manufacturing Excellence award winners are perfect of examples of how Washington manufacturers are leading the way on innovation, demonstrating our shared values of a clean environment creating economic opportunity for all and updating the perceptions of modern manufacturing operations and careers.”
