MEDIA ADVISORY: Statewide Groups Partner to Host Housing Forum

OLYMPIA — Ten diverse business and advocacy groups from throughout the state are joining forces to host a forum on housing availability and affordability July 8 in Bellevue.

The event will cover the outlook on current issues, provide insights on experiences and best practices, and allow attendees to connect with cross-disciplinary decision makers to foster positive action. This event is targeted at problem-solvers, policy influencers, and thought leaders and is aimed at addressing the issue of affordable housing for workforce and families in all the state's communities.

Andrew Barkis, R-Olympia, followed by presentations from James Young of the University of Washington, speaking about two decades of rising housing costs in the state; and Joseph Tovar, principal of Tovar Planning and co-lead of the Road Map to Washington’s Future project.

The event includes panel discussions on the cost of building a home, and a panel with state legislative leaders. The day’s breakout session topics include land use, infrastructure, tax and regulatory concerns, rental markets, and much more.
