2012 AWB Manufacturing Awards

Manufacturing Excellence Awards recognize innovation, green technology

SEATTLE - Janicki Industries, the fast-growing manufacturer of state-of-the-art composites used in aerospace and other industries, was named the 2012 Manufacturer of the Year Wednesday by the Association of Washington Business.

Six other employers also were recognized by AWB for their contributions to the state's manufacturing economy, including Spokane-based pharmaceutical maker Jubilant HollisterStier, which received AWB's top honor for operational excellence.

HPF Manufacturing, Inc., of Snohomish, Pasco-based wheelchair manufacturer TiLite, and Weyerhaeuser's North Pacific Paper Company in Longview, were recognized for their innovative manufacturing practices; and Earth Friendly Products of Lacey and Bellevue-based Coca-Cola Refreshments were honored for green manufacturing.

The 2012 Manufacturing Excellence Awards, sponsored by UPS and the AWB Institute, were presented during AWB's first Manufacturing Summit in Seattle. AWB is both the state chamber of commerce and the state manufacturing association, representing more than 3,500 small, medium and large manufacturers in Washington state.

"It's exciting to see how these companies have continued to innovate in a challenging and fragile economy," said Kris Johnson, AWB vice president of operations. "They are proof that a good idea well-executed is still a recipe for success, not only for their businesses, but also for consumers, job seekers and the overall economy."

"We are proud to recognize these manufacturers for their commitment to innovation and sustainable manufacturing, and we look forward to their continued success," Johnson added.
