Washington Excellence Awards Nomination Deadline

Each year, AWB provides opportunities for member companies to showcase excellence and best practices in a variety of fields. 

Nominate your Washington based company or another excellent company for the 2020 awards today!

It only takes one nomination to advance to the consideration stage.


Washington Excellence Award Categories: 

Washington Achieve Award – Recognizing a Washington state business that has excelled in creating, implementing or supporting a high-caliber education and/or workforce development system aligned with closing the employment gap

Washington Connect Award – Recognizing a Washington state business whose products and/or services have positively impacted the way in which Washington employers and communities are connected to each other and the world

Leading Environmental Practices – Recognizing a Washington state business that has put a priority on environmental improvement, education or outreach to their business sector and/or community

Washington Advance Award – Recognizing a Washington state business that has had a significant impact in their sector, contributing to the advancement of their community and/or statewide economy

[NEW IN 2020] Washington Veterans & Families Award – Recognizing employers who have developed and applied hiring and retention best practices for addressing the employment challenges faced by veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses.

[NEW IN 2020] Excellence in Washington Family Owned Business – Given to a family-owned business that is setting the standard for excellence and success by growing the business while serving their communities and paying close attention to the personal touch in customer service.

[NEW IN 2020] Washington Resiliency Award – Recognizing an employer who has shown resilience and determination in overcoming difficult obstacles and demonstrates leadership in carrying out initiatives addressing safety, community resiliency, and/or financial threats related to an emerging, immediate or long term  threat or community crisis while taking into consideration the varying needs of all residents of the geographic region.

[UPDATED] Entrepreneur of the year – Given to a Washington state entrepreneur whose business is less than 5 years old and has made a significant impact in their industry

*The Entrepreneur of the Year Award is now open to leaders at all Washington employers, not just AWB members, which are less than five years old. The prize for this award includes a one-year AWB membership (or extension of an existing membership).

Employer of the Year – Recognizing a Washington state employer who has implemented innovative job retention, creation, benefits, and/or compensation plans that fosters a thriving work environment.

Manufacturing Excellence Award Categories:

Green Manufacturing Award — Given to a Washington state business that has maximized energy efficiency levels, gone above and beyond regulatory requirements, minimized waste from the production process and reduced its carbon footprint.

Operational Excellence Award — Recognizing a Washington state company that has a distinctive manufacturing process, including continuous improvement, innovations, lean and six sigma and/or application of high technology.

Innovation Award — Recognizing a Washington state company that has maintained a competitive advantage by utilizing innovation while remaining responsive to market demands.

Manufacturer of the Year Award — This premier award recognizes a Washington state company that has a commitment to business excellence, has found creative solutions to challenges that raise or enhance the industry standard, as well as involvement in state and/or local public policy issues that affect manufacturers. *One award winner in this category

The Process: A panel of judges will review submitted nominations, determine the top three nominees, and select the winning company in each category. Winners will be announced and honored at the 2020 Evening of Excellence gala awards night as applicable. Winning companies will be profiled in AWB’s Washington Business Magazine, at least one edition of AWB’s weekly newsletter, as well as press releases.

Eligibility: Companies must be located, or do business in the state of Washington, and can be nominated by a fellow business or nonprofit or they may complete the nomination form themselves.

Requirements: In accepting the nomination, companies must provide video content for the award ceremony, their high-resolution logo, and supporting documents if not already submitted.

Supporting Documents: Additional documents should be no more than six single-sided pages in either Word, PowerPoint, Excel or PDF format supporting why your company should win in your selected categories. Feel free to include written statements, press releases, news articles, testimonials, photos, etc
