Select Benefits ‘Fixed Payment Group Insurance’ Gives More Uninsured Workers Access to Doctors
Ideally, all employees should have access to medical benefits, including part-time, hourly, temporary and seasonal workers.
Symetra’s fixed payment group policy, called Select Benefits, is a cost-effective option giving employers the ability to offer previously uninsured workers limited medical benefits with fixed payments for doctor’s office visits, wellness benefits, prescriptions and urgent care.
With Select Benefits, you can offer group medical insurance that takes your budget into consideration and has:
- No Pre-existing Conditions Limitations
- No Carrier-Mandated Eligibility Requirements
- No Required Networks
- No Co-pays or Deductibles on Medical Benefits
Select Benefits is designed to provide a different type of coverage than traditional major medical coverage. Unlike major medical, these policies are more limited and pay fixed payments for routine services. While not designed to be comprehensive like major medical coverage, Select Benefits make going to the doctor easier for those workers who cannot afford major medical premiums or would otherwise not be eligible for an employer’s health plan.
Select Benefits has no preexisting condition limitations, no required networks, and no restrictions with other health insurance plans. It offers a universal rate and provides first-dollar benefits, up to a calendar year maximum, for things like wellness exams, diagnostic X-rays, immunizations, lab tests and other types of routine services. The policy also features life insurance and accident benefits. Plans are available to businesses with at least five employees and benefits cover both participating employees and their dependents.
