Democrats will meet Dec. 1 to pick one-year replacement for the late Rep. Freeman

Precinct committee officers who were elected in the Aug. 5 primary will meet Dec. 1 to pick and rank three nominees to fill the open house seat left vacant after the death of Rep. Roger Freeman, D-Federal Way. The King and Pierce county councils will pick from those three finalists as they appoint a temporary replacement to fill out the seat through 2015.

Announced candidates for the appointment include local party officer Richard Champion and former legislative candidates Roger Flygare and Shari Song. Federal Way School Board President Carol Gregory is also among those considering seeking the job, The News Tribune reports.
