JBLM honors 1,000 Vietnam-era veterans

Washington's largest military base recognized a generation of military service members Thursday, offering a public ceremony for veterans who often felt scorned when they first returned from the Vietnam battlefield. More than 2,500 veterans and their families were recognized in the ceremony at JBLM's parade field.

“It is never too late, never too late, to pay tribute to the men and women who served and continue to serve our country,” said I Corps Commander Lt. Gen. Stephen Lanza, the senior Army officer at JBLM.

AWB, as an official Department of Defense partner in the 50th anniversary commemoration of the Vietnam War, honored more than a dozen veterans last month at our annual Policy Summit. Click here for more information or watch a video showing highlights from the emotional ceremony.

The News-Tribune has a story and photos from the event.
