It's Policy Summit time. Follow all the action online. Attendees, we'll see you at Suncadia!

If you're one of the hundreds of people registered for the AWB Policy Summit, you're about to take part in the state's biggest public policy event of the year. Dozens of the region's top leaders and thinkers will gather at Suncadia Resort to discuss taxes, spending, educational policy, transportation and the ways to lead a business -- and a state -- toward a better future.

AWB's silver anniversary Policy Summit begins Tuesday with the annual fundraiser golf tournament to benefit Washington Business Week and continues with a legislative candidate reception. Wednesday will be a full day of interactive discussion and insights, and Policy Summit concludes Thursday with a meeting of the AWB board.

Some expected highlights: Gov. Jay Inslee will address the summit with the theme "2015: Challenges & Opportunities." Later that day attendees will hear from Brad Tilden, CEO of the nation's sixth-largest carrier, Alaska Airlines, and U.S. Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal (retired).

Other speakers include Spokane Mayor David Condon, Avista CEO Scott Morris, Laura Lawton-Forsyth of Lawton Printing and File-Ez Folder, former Battelle and PNNL executive Mike Schwenk, Pearson Packaging CEO Michael Senske, and Marty Brown, executive director of the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges.

Former Dick's Drive-In worker, then and now

By Melanie Wood, former Dick's crew member who went on to work at Verizon Wireless, Hewlett-Packard, Micro K12 and Microsoft

I have always admired Dick's Drive-In for strong involvement with the United Way, the scholarship program, celebrating with high school and college grads, and all that is achieved in the community.

High standards of integrity and strong work-ethic were my greatest takeaways from my time with the Drive-In, but it was also my first exposure to being part of team, as well as seeing what happens when an organization keeps focus on these community objectives.
