Hundreds of business leaders gathered Sept. 15-17 at the Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum for AWB’s 26th annual Policy Summit. This year’s theme was leadership, economy and jobs.
The three-day agenda began with a golf tournament Tuesday, Sept. 15, benefitting Washington Business Week. The main day of policy briefings was Wednesday, Sept. 16, followed by a board meeting Thursday, Sept. 17.
The 300-plus Policy Summit attendees heard from keynote speakers that included Seattle sports personality Tony Ventrella, who shared team values for your business, and renowned pollster John Zogby, who discussed the 2016 election landscape and demographics. TVW has the full video of Zogby’s speech here.
Alan Mulally, a longtime top Boeing executive who went on to serve as president/CEO of the Ford Motor Company, gave the main keynote address Wednesday night. He spoke about how it took teamwork and transparency, and some guts, to turn around the struggling iconic auto manufacturer. He told AWB members that he consciously decided not to bring in a new leadership team despite Ford's many challenges. He saw that the people of Ford simply needed guidance.
Dual-track issue panels discussed everything from women business leaders and energy to minimum wage and education funding.
