Federal Health Care Webinar Series
What Health-Care Reform Means to Your Business Webinar Series
Presented by Donna Steward, Association of Washington Business

President Obama has signed landmark legislation on health-care reform into law and the impact
on employers is substantial and complicated. For the first time, many employers will be subjected to penalties if they do not offer coverage to employees or if the coverage fails an affordability test. Some requirements go into effect now, and others are phased in over the course of several years. Down the road, employers also could be affected by a new tax on costly health insurance plans if health-care plan costs continue to rise.

To help employers keep up with the latest developments, we have developed a webinar series to address key provisions on health care reform and explain how it will affect your company.

Webinar Series:

1. Federal Health-Care Reform: What Employers Need to Know and Why
August 4, 2010 // 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Congress just passed and the President signed into law the most significant changes to the American health care system in the nation’s history. Major changes are in store for health care benefit programs as implementation of the new health care law draws closer. The new law is complicated and, in some cases, unclear.
This webinar will help you understand the key components of this highly contentious new law and the impact it will have on employers and individuals over the next several years. Topics include:
• New employer responsibilities required of reform-including new coverage requirements
• Health plan requirements
• Taxes and reporting
• Timeline of major provisions Join us for this insightful 90 minute webinar to hear AWB’s Donna Steward explain the details of the new law and discuss steps your organization can take to prepare for and meet the challenges you’re likely to face in this new era of health-care reform.

2. Small Employer Tax Incentives Provided in Federal Health-Care Reform: Blessing or Curse?
August 18, 2010 // 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Small employers face unique challenges in trying to provide health care coverage for their employees. Federal reform provides tax credits for very small employers to encourage more of these employers to provide coverage for their workers. However, the rules are highly complex and for some, there may be more disincentives than incentives. Join us for a 60 minute webinar to discuss tax credit eligibility, duration, and important trade-offs that might be made for accepting the credit.

3. Prepping for 2011 – What Employers Need to Know to Comply with the First Round of Changes Required of Federal Health-Care Reform
August 30, 2010 // 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Federal health-care reform requirements will be phased-in over the next six years and while the biggest changes will occur in 2014, numerous requirements phase-in prior to that time. Join us for a 60 minute webinar to discuss new requirements employers must implement in 2011 in order to comply with the new law, as well as provides a preview of elements required in later years that may need time for development and implementation prior to the time compliance is required.

4. Keeping Your Current Health Plan: What it Means for Employers and Employees
September 16, 2010 // 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Repeatedly during the discussion of health-care reform, President Obama ensured individuals that if they liked their current health care plan, they would be able to keep it. This 60 minute webinar explores what constitutes a “grandfathered” plan, employer responsibilities for grandfathered plans and what employers can and cannot do if they want to maintain grandfathered plan status.

5. New Employer Responsibilities to Provide Health Care Coverage: Who is Affected and How
September 29, 2010 // 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.

The passage of federal health-care reform includes new responsibilities for individuals and all employers. While many of the responsibilities relate to coverage requirements for employers of certain sizes, there are several requirements for which employers of all sizes must comply. This 60 minute webinar focuses on new coverage responsibilities by employer size, penalties for failing to meet coverage responsibilities and other potentially costly compliance requirements unrelated to coverage.
