OLYMPIA — The Association of Washington Business is honored to welcome four leaders in international relations, business, energy and economics to speak at its annual Spring Board Meeting next week in Spokane.
On Tuesday, May 19, Canadian Ambassador to the U.S., Michael Wilson, will address the AWB Board of Directors on issues related to international trade, energy and other mutual interests between Canada and the United States. The Ambassador will observe the signing of a reciprocity agreement between the Western Aerospace Alliance, an association of aerospace organizations from the four western Canadian provinces, and the Inland NorthWest Aerospace Consortium, a Spokane-based aerospace association. The Ambassador’s speech will commence at 3:30 p.m. He will then take questions, prior to a reception.
Following the reception, AWB will host its traditional dinner and Community Service Awards ceremony; Colleen Brown, CEO of Fisher Communications, will be the featured speaker that evening. Awards will be presented to more than 30 businesses from around the state for their outstanding volunteer and community efforts. Three additional awards will be presented honoring AWB members and Dr. Terry Bergeson, for her distinguished work in service to the citizens of Washington state.
On Wednesday, May 20, Denise McCourt from the American Petroleum Institute will share her thoughts on the future of energy resources in our state and nation. Dr. Arun Raha, the state’s chief economist and executive director of the Washington State Economic and Revenue Forecast Council, will also provide an update on the state’s economy.
The AWB Spring Board Meeting and Awards Dinner is a members-only event. However, the media is invited to attend the guest speaker session. Due to space constraints, media representatives are asked to R.S.V.P. to Jocelyn McCabe/AWB at 360.943.1600 or JocelynM@awb.org and to check in at the event registration desk on the day of the event.
