OLYMPIA – The Association of Washington Business has promoted Jocelyn McCabe to the position of vice president of communications. The announcement was made public today by AWB President Don Brunell.

McCabe joined the association in July as director of communications. She has previously served as director of communications for the Association of Washington School Principals and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.

“Jocelyn has demonstrated tremendous leadership since joining AWB and she has more than earned this distinction,” said Brunell. “We are pleased to have her leading communications efforts on behalf of our organization.”

Before coming to work in K-12 education, McCabe served as a senior account executive in the technology division of APCO Worldwide, a Seattle public relations and public affairs firm. She has public sector experience as public information officer in the Washington State House of Representatives. She began her career as a reporter for the Daily Record newspaper in Ellensburg.

McCabe holds a master’s degree in journalism from Michigan State University with an emphasis on crisis communications and media relations. She also holds two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Washington, one in English/creative writing and the other in editorial journalism.

About the Association of Washington Business
Formed in 1904, the Association of Washington Business is Washington’s oldest and largest statewide business association, serving as both the state’s chamber of commerce and the manufacturing and technology association. While its 6,500 members include major employers like Boeing, Microsoft and Weyerhaeuser, 90 percent of AWB members employ fewer than 100 people. More than half of AWB’s members employ fewer than 10.
