OLYMPIA— The Association of Washington Business has named Jason Hagey as a
Communications project manager. He began work with the association on Monday, May 4.

Hagey’s duties will include writing and editing for the association’s magazine, Washington Business, contributing to its blog, Olympia Business Watch, and looking for ways to use some of the new social media tools, including Facebook and Twitter.

”We are very excited that Jason has joined our communications team,” said Jocelyn McCabe, AWB vice president of communications. “Jason brings a wonderful mix of writing and researching skills to AWB, which will further enhance our magazine, Washington Business, along with our other print and electronic publications.

“We are also eager to tap into his experience with so-called new media. As an association, we have to keep finding new and different ways to communicate with all of our audiences. Jason’s knowledge and use of applications like Twitter and Facebook will help us better connect with our members and tell the story of AWB.”

For the last eight years, Hagey was a reporter for The (Tacoma) News Tribune where he covered Tacoma city government, state politics and a variety of other assignments.
Before that, he was a reporter for the Tri-City Herald in Kennewick. He began his career at the East Oregonian newspaper in Pendleton, Ore.

Hagey received a degree in English from Portland State University. He lives in Gig Harbor with his wife and two children.
