Camp Murray, WA - The December 2007 Winter Storm has caused an outpouring of communities helping communities during the recovery process. Non-profit organizations have been accepting cash donations to assist individuals with immediate needs and time and labor for clean-up efforts.
Washingtonians continue to look for ways to donate goods to communities throughout the affected counties. Counties are calling for immediate assistance finding goods and services.
Following Governor Gregoire’s call for “neighbors to help neighbors” during the recovery, the State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) yesterday launched a new web page to connect local governments with Washingtonians who may be able to donate supplies.
Already, some requests have been met by concerned businesses and citizens. Lewis County received cash donations that bought 75 2,500-watt generators to power homes and Grays Harbor County received enough water for 100 people.
By visiting www.emd.wa.gov, donors will find requested goods with point of contact information for Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason and Thurston Counties. Requests include wheelbarrows, personal hygiene items, brooms, leather gloves, and other needed clean-up items.
