OLYMPIA - Washington Business magazine, a bi-monthly publication sponsored by the Association of Washington Business, received seven coveted Magnum Opus Awards from Publications Management, the leading monthly newsletter for marketers pursuing proven, successful strategies for exceptional corporate or custom publishing. Publications Management designed the awards as a way to honor publications that deliver the highest quality and demonstrate the greatest consistency.
For the first time since it entered the competition—against some of the biggest marketers like Disney and Verizon Inc.—Washington Business received a gold designation for its Ulcer Gulch feature, which covers the lighter side of Washington state politics. “It is an honor to receive such a distinction from Publications Management,” AWB President Don Brunell said. “We have the best team of writers and editors that any magazine could ask for. Their hard work and love of writing have surpassed any and all expectations.”
The magazine also received a Silver award for its Community Profile feature, a Bronze award for the Q&A with Employment Security Department Commissioner Karen Lee, and for its bi-monthly profile of business professionals and member companies. It also received three Honorable Mentions for Best Cover, Best Overall Editorial and Best Article—titled St. Helens Eruption Changed Weyerhaeuser Forever, written by Charles Henry Thomas.
