Most business owners and company executives don’t have the time to recruit and cultivate candidates, let alone endorse candidates for state and federal offices. Just finding out exactly where a candidate stands on business-related issues can be a challenge.
Such deciphering is where the Association of Washington Business fits in. Through highly regarded tools like our annual Legislative Voting Record and our biennial Judical Scorecard, AWB arms its 6,000 statewide members with the background information they need to make the most educated decisions at the polls. AWB’s annual Legislative Review, featured as an insert in the July/August issue of Washington Business magazine, provides a detailed account of specific pieces of legislation as they relate to AWB’s mission and objectives. AWB doesn’t just provide the "what" but also provides the "how." Such in-depth coverage demonstrates AWB’s commitment to providing a fair assessment of legislative performance without preconceived biases based on party stereotypes.
To round everything out for AWB members, in this issue, Washington Business looks at endorsements and details about the 2006 political landscape. A number of ballot initiatives are discussed in detail, and we provide insights on how the 2006 elections could affect Washington employers.
AWB also used the Internet to inform and mobilize its members. WAVote.com was recently launched in partnership with the United States Chamber of Commerce and provides businesses across the state with easily accessible election information. Users are able to register to vote, contact their legislators, learn about candidates, and get the most current political and legislative news. Another tremendous online resource is AWB.org, which includes more than 5,000 pages of information that can help businesses make the best decisions in 2006. AWB.org is updated every day and includes exclusive insights and features.
For the 2006 election, business owners need only look to AWB and Washington Business magazine for the most up-to-date and relevant information available.
