Ask Dave Quiring if he saves money using AWB’s Freight Savings program. “Even when haulers give us special promotions that are 65 percent below regular shipping cost, AWB Freight Savings will still beat them. We know. We’ve shopped around.”
As for customer service, Quiring, the third generation owner of Quiring Monument in North Seattle says, “The few shipping problems we had were taken care of promptly and satisfactorily. You just give AES a call!”
Started by the husband and wife team of Anne and Bob Schwieger in 2001, AES Logistics has been a remarkable success story. Recently, the Puget Sound Business Journal named them one of the 50 fastest grown companies in the Puget Sound area. With six employees, AES has rapidly gained a reputation for fast, reliable and customer-friendly service.
Last year, the Association of Washington Business joined with AES Logistics starting our AWB Freight Savings Program. So far, more than two dozen companies are enjoying the program’s savings.
Quiring Monuments specializes in granite monuments starting with small 250-pound markers up to 20,000-pound memorial benches. They need shippers who care for their products as much as they do. AES Logistics provides that and more for Quiring.
AWB Freight Savings participating members acquire nearly a two-thirds discount on less-than truckload shipments between 200 and 20,000 pounds. The discount can expand to 70 percent or more with some carriers. Members also receive competitive rates from other rail, truckload and air freights.
By using the volume buying of AWB members, the staff at AES Logistics contact different carriers for the best price. It handles most of the paper work and tracks the shipment. So when the package leaves your business, you can forget it because AES Logistics will take care of it.
Carriers are audited using many quality control factors such as on-time percentage, damaged goods and even driver courtesy.
“This program is another reason why it pays to belong to AWB,” said Deb Brown, Senior vice president of member services. “Often through our Compwise, HealthChoice and Freight Savings programs, we can save our members much more than they pay in dues.”
