This issue of Washington Business marks a number of milestones for our magazine. Longtime contributor Richard S. Davis, whose insights have appeared in every issue of the magazine since its inception in 2002, now joins the AWB team as vice president of communications. I’m happy to report that Dick’s column will continue to be a part of our publication under the heading “Policy and Politics.” Also, be sure to check out his new blog, Olympia Business Watch, accessible through our Web site at www.awb.org.
AWB President Don Brunell’s column has also been a fixture in the magazine. Beginning with the March/April 2007 issue, Don will be retiring the President’s Message and moving to this space. You can still read his weekly columns on the AWB Web site.
This issue of Washington Business focuses on the results of the November 2006 midterm elections and the key issues facing our lawmakers as they begin the 2007 legislative session. Government spending, health care and education reform, gain sharing, and the environmental restoration of Puget Sound are just a few of the important questions that must be considered. What happens in Olympia over the next few months is crucial to the long-term economic viability of the state, and the Association of Washington Business will be there, working hard to protect the interests of our members. The power shift in the Legislature means we have our work cut out for us, and Washington Business magazine will continue to bring you the information you need to make sound judgements and informed decisions that affect your life and your business.
