AWB Honored for Shorelines Efforts
The Association of Washington Business (AWB), along with the Washington Environmental Council and Dept. of Ecology, was honored by the group Shared Strategy for Puget Sound (SSPS) last week at a banquet. The SSPS presented AWB with a wildlife print for its work in the recently settled Shorelines agreement. For more information, go to www.awb.org.
 
State Supreme Court to Listen to AWB Complaint Against L&I Rules

AWB Hosts 9th Annual Chamber Day
Chamber heads and business community leaders from all over Washington attended Chamber Day 2003 Feb. 5 at the General Administration Building. Chamber Day afforded business and community leaders the chance to learn, not only about the issues taking place at the state capitol, but also their rights to testify and make their opinions heard on these topics.
 
NY Gov. Pataki: “We Must Keep Tax Cuts, Restrain Spending”
Facing a $2 billion revenue shortfall this year and one several times larger next year, New York Gov. George Pataki is proposing a state budget that would cut spending in every area but public security, preserve already approved tax cuts, and enact new tax incentives to encourage high-tech jobs. In his state of the state message last month, Pataki said: “In 1995, when New York’s economy and finances were still in a state of crisis, we made the right choice. We cut taxes, reduced spending and led New York’s economy to renewal. The result was the creation of hundreds of thousands of new jobs.”
